License and attribution

HUD and CDC data are public domain. The compilation is CC BY 4.0: credit "Data: ALF Atlas (hudassistedliving.loan)" with a link. ALF Atlas is published by Janover Capital LLC and is not affiliated with HUD, FHA, CDC or any state agency. Nothing returned is licensing advice, a care referral or a loan offer.

Questions

Is there a cost or an API key?

No. The server is free, read-only and needs no key or sign-in. Please cite the ALF Atlas page or the primary source that comes back with each answer.

Where does the data come from?

The same records as the state pages: each state licensing agency's site and published facility list, CDC/NCHS National Post-acute and Long-term Care Study estimates (2020 is the latest wave with state figures), and HUD's active FHA insured mortgage file (as of September 30, 2026) with its healthcare endorsement database.

Can it tell me whether a specific facility is licensed?

No. The site keeps state totals, not facility-by-facility license records. For one facility's license status, use the state agency's own lookup, which the licensing tool links to.
