Download the state data

The numbers behind every state page are free to download as CSV or JSON: one row per state for licensing and supply, and one row per active FHA-insured assisted living loan. Use them with credit to ALF Atlas.

What the state file can and cannot tell you

Supply counts exist only for the 13 states that publish a downloadable list with each facility's capacity. Elsewhere those columns are blank and the CDC estimate is the only count. The lists don't define assisted living the same way: Pennsylvania's covers personal care homes, California's covers every licensed RCFE including six-bed homes, and some states count units instead of beds (capacity_unit says which). Each state's list keeps its own date in list_as_of. Compare a state with itself over time before comparing it with its neighbor.

The CDC columns are the 2020 NPALS state estimates, the newest wave with state rows; CDC rounds them. The licensing columns were checked by hand against each agency's site on October 24, 2026, and anything we couldn't confirm there is left out. The methodology has the parsing rules for each state list.

There is no facility-by-facility file here. The site keeps the totals from each state list, not the facility rows, and the 13 lists identify facilities in 13 different formats.

JSON endpoint and rate ticker

/api/live?ids=UST10,UST5,SOFR returns the latest Treasury par yields and SOFR with their dates, a week-ago and month-ago reading, a freshness flag and the publisher's citation, open to requests from any origin. Add &history=60 for the last 60 readings. The same figures come as a small ticker you can paste into your own page:
